More Dolly Pics

There was a time, that my parents left this doll out all the time, in a little kids rocking chair, up in their TV room. EVERY SINGLE time I walk into that room, the doll would freak me out. Look at the size of its head!

Happy Thanksgiving

Although the day was dreary and the kids didn't make it for dinner. Stephen wasn't feeling well and joined us at my folks late in the evening. Emma had plans to go out with Stephenie for some hot Black Friday deals. The food was AWESOME, everyone seemed to enjoy the sweet potato casserole with carmel cayenne glazed pecans. MMMMMMmmmmm.

Smashing Success

The first few blows chipped the glass, then a crack, then the above.

Check out the thickness of the glass! It's about three-fourths of an inch thick.
Then Emma went to work on the back, I had to call it at that point. Hitting a capacitor on a TV this size, even with the TV off, might have been a shocking revelation! Safety first.

Thanks To The Kids

To all that attended, both young, and "grown": thanks for coming out, following instructions, and remaining safe! Hope you all had fun!

Emma's 12th

Emma's Birthday Party was a smashing success! Thanks to little touches like the cake Oma and Opa had made using the picture from Emma's invitation. The best thing about it... no leftovers.

Special thanks to my Mother for the delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake. Bailey and Emma made a smoothly out of the last two pieces. I secretly wanted to eat all of the leftovers.

Fun with projector lenses

A friend gave me some lenses from various projectors for me to fiddle around with. I need to build an apparatus that will hold them all at varying distances. I think I will try to find some supplies at Home Depot so I can get different results. I will have a DIY post when I get some good results.

Emma and her Omama.

Oma, ruhe in Frieden, Du bleibst mir immer im Herzen

My Oma shed this mortal coil this morning around 06:00, I will miss her dearly. She taught me so much. Life is about observation and interpretation, always keep your eyes open. She used to save the heals of the loaves of bread for her grandchildren to walk down to Gravelly Lake, and feed the ducks. I still do the same thing to this day. She painted beautiful pictures in oil and watercolors and I always admired that, her attention to detail. I love you Oma, safe travels. I will miss you.

Bending light

Whilst retrieving the children from my friends house I found a awesome plastic magnifying glass, hard to focus with it but I like this effect. It gave me an idea, a coworker of mine disassembled a computer projector and gave me all the lens elements. I am going to make a muli-tilt shift lens experiment soon. Watch for the next DIY post in a week or two.

Great Weekend

Pamela and I had a great weekend at the coast. This is the view from the back deck. It was beautiful, romantic and we got some great finds antiquing. Had lunch with Brent and Katie at the BEST seafood resturant at the coast for fish and chips, The South Beach Seafood Market in South Newport, for a map and reviews: http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/1803/south-beach-fish-market

Please go there... order the Fish and chip Sampler, its 2 peices of halibut, salmon, and tuna, all caught fresh and breaded right there, tell them that Captain Fantastic sent you.

New Pedestrian Bridge

I like to take the kids on adventures. Sometimes it's what I would like to do, sometimes what they want to do. I have noticed that the kids are fairly utilitarian when it comes to car rides. We have started to stop places and do things. Here we are crossing the new pedestrian bridge that used to be used as a rail line through West Salem.

Equipment

Sometimes having that little manual focus switch is great. I oft forget that I have the camera in manual mode. I have hundreds of out-of-focus snapshots and compositions that are so great.

I'm thinking of making a few galleries on my Picasa site dedicated to the out of focus shots.

The Other Side

This is the other side o the Jammers Bar and Grill sign.
I cannot explain it.

Good Sign, Was Better

So this sign on Friday read...
1 Come In
2 Get Drunk
3 Get Laid

I am sure the OLCC might have had a problem with that, but I personally like the first variation: Honest.
