Busy Fathers Day Weekend

A whole new path to the world next door.

I cleared out a section of the backyard that had seven-foot tall blackberry bushes along the perimeter. Cutting the path specifically for the kids so they can get to the unused lot next door. After swinging the machete for about thirty minutes, and pleased with the path, I mowed the lawn and dumped the clippings on the path.

The first course was delicious goat cheese (feta) should have been chèvre (I'm a cheese snob), grapes and crackers

On fathers day, Emma and Stephen woke up at about 7:30 sneaked across the unsneekably-creaky hardwood living room to the kitchen. I might not have noticed, however I was asleep on the futon in the living room. I feigned sleep and would snore, and shuffle around a little whenever the floor creaked. I could hear them cooking, and about ten minutes later they emerged with a plate of exceptionally dry scrambled eggs. They where GREAT! I shared with the kids and thanked them. They presented me with the most wonderful gift a picture that I took of each at Minto-Brown Island, printed on canvas mounted on foam board (Thanks so much Pamela). Departed the house at about 10:00 to go over to Pam's house. All week Emma and Pam had been in cahoots to plan this awesome lunch that Em came up with. It was great!

Emma and Steve couldn't wait for me to try it.

Nice work staying low there Steve. It was like a premonition. FIRE!!!

So, on the way over to Pamela's, Emma lets me know that under no circumstance should I go into the kitchen. I asked her, "what if I need to help?"
"No dad!"
"Well, what if there is an emergency?"
"Like what?"
"Like a fire."
"Daaaaaaadddddd. If a fire starts Pam can just put it out."
It turns out that the breadcrumbs Stephen topped the salmon with got a little hot and smokey.

Emma kept giving me overly verbose status updates. She is the greatest daughter a Dad could have.

Stephen took some great shots of all sorts of things. I was a a little misty about the whole thing.

Later, after lunch, Emma, Stephen, Bailey and I took a walk to the park playground.

All in all, it was a great day.

I took lots of pictures of flowers.

Then we stole the copper.

This was a really bad day. The Ex was at the hospital, with an unknown and incredibly painful malady. Emma was not feeling well, Stephen had cabin fever. I hoped that going to see the new Indiana Jones movie would help, we seldom see movies in the theater due to the cost incurred. I just like that the mall posts signs about what areas are being "watched".
